Maria lives in this makeshift tent with her family and what's left of her possessions.

Maria Perez

She had three kids before they left Belle Cruz and one baby, now one month old, who was
born when they got to this land. She said, "In Belle Cruz it was a traditional life, everyone had their parcels and their little house. The men worked in the fields, the women cared for the house. But then the man claimed he owned the land, the problems became too great so we had to leave. They said they were going to burn our house down and thlat we had three days to leave. We had to leave many things behind. First, we went to the La
nd Reform Agency in Bogota to protest."
